Halloween Skull Decor

"With Halloween coming around again soon I wanted to make my own Halloween decorations. I ordered these skull off the internet without checking the description and they were a lot smaller than expected. Instead of letting them go to waste I made these cute table figures. The bodies were made from shot glasses which were decorated using black gesso and highlighted using Bronze wax paste. I made them some top haps from recycled toilet rolls and used scraps of fabric to make them outfits. The lucky ones got some eyes but I did not have enough beads to make some for them all."

Instructions

  1. Paint the glasses using black gesso primer.

  2. Glue the skulls onto the top using a hot glue gun.

  3. I made top hats from the tube of an empty toilet roll and carboard

  4. The hats were painted and decorated.

  5. The shot glasses were decorated using self-adhesive rhinestones and broken jewellery.

  6. The pockets were cardboard cut to shape.

  7. To get the bronze colour over the black. I used bronze wax paste that I applied using my finger to the surface area of the glass. Don't fill in all the nooks and crannies with the bronze paste or the effects will be lost.

  8. To give them a softer look I made some eyes. I did not have enough for them all. The beads were painted white then sharpie was used to add the detail of the pupil and veins in the eyes. 12. I used offcuts of fabric the make the scarves and added some spiders for special effect.
